As the application deadline for US universities approaches I wanted to take this opportunity to remind students to apply to an array of academically competitive institutions, often referred to as target, reach and safety institutions.

 

When determining which institution(s) to include in your short list, ensure you review the respective admission statistics of the most recent freshman class. This can act as a guide in determining which institutions you are most likely to be offered a place based on your application credentials. These credentials usually include the average test scores, GPA, and sometime rank and it is presumed the other components of your application (essays and recommendations) are strong.
